Spring has sprung and summer is around the corner. Yeah! Every wardrobe is usually in need of a bit of a shake-up after winter. Once spring has sprung I check if there are any older pieces I still want to wear another season, or if they are ready for re-selling via Buffalo Exchange and the Goodwill bag. There are some pieces that are worn out and maybe not THAT fashion-forward anymore but I still love them. And there are items where I am not quite sure how they even landed in my closet in the first place and items I am totally bored about.
So in order to get some inspiration what to wear this spring, I reached out to popular African Fashion online stores and asked them: What is your must have Spring Trend?
OMG I love all of these suggestions. Which trend do you like best? Comment below!
Capes! Capes are a great statement piece like the one from Melange Mode!
Our spring trend is “twist it, wrap it” and is an ode to the traditional African iro and buba worn at special events.
This Spring I’m bringing some sunshine to my look with an African printed trench coat in the bold golden hues that hit the Spring ’16 runways. So it’s not too bright as to look too ‘summery’ but definitely vibrant enough to counter the English weather. This trench by the brand Mafrika (available soon at Sapelle.com), will be my wardrobe staple.
This spring I am into statement handbags like the fold-over clutch by Suakoko Betty (we have a version at Nubian Hueman exclusively for us). They are fun with pops of color and a little oversized but still with the cultural twist of Kente cloth and tassels that I love. They are perfect to work as a piece on its own or with an overstated, contrasting print.
