During Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, Africa Fashion Day Berlin (AFDB) presented emerging designers with African background to Germany’s fashion capital. At one of Europe’s largest fashion fairs, the PREMIUM International Trade Show, the collections from Alexandra Tamele, Gloria Wavamunno and Adama Paris were exhibited.
AFDB stands out from other Africa-focused fashion events in Europe, as organizer Beatrace Oola focuses on quality instead of quantity, so that only a handful of designers – a mixture of more established designers like Adama Paris and newbies like Alexandra Tamele – get a chance to present their latest collection.
Together with the cooperation partners Bolingo and MoLateef, Africa Fashion Day Berlin invited at the end of the week to a Fashion Showcase titled “Fashion Africa Now” that presented the designs from Nomi by Naomi, Negassi, Alexandra Tamele, Adama Paris and Gloria Wavamunno. AFDB ended the event with a big party that I unfortunately missed, as I had already left Berlin. But I heard it was fab!
