Everyone is talking about Summer ending soon. I am going to ignore these people for now as I love Summer and I actually don’t want it to end. Who wants to deal with Winter in NYC? Not me! Before the hot season is waving us goodbye, there are some smashing events I want to make you aware of.
AfroPunk Brooklyn (this weekend – 27th and 28th of August)
I am adding “Brooklyn” as now there are so many AfroPunk spin-offs in Paris, London, Atlanta etc.
It’s a music festival, but personally, I am just here for the fashion! People dress to impress and mix vintage, prints, and anything really with some cool new stuff or show off their own creation. Accessories, hairstyles – everything is usually a piece of art. And of course – there is music and performances, too.
African Fashion & Accessories Trunk Show (10th of September)
This is my Trunk Show in Brooklyn where I will present unique accessories from Mali, bags made in Ghana, skirts made in Senegal and for the first time my interior design pieces. The event will take place from 11 am – 6 pm within the design store peace & Riot, located on 492 Nostrand Ave between Halsey and Hancock (Take A/C Train to Nostrand Ave or 26 Bus to Halsey & Nostrand). It’s going to be fun and a great opportunity to get your hands on some unique African fashion & accessories.
Essence Festival (10th of September)
This used to take place on Sundays if I recall correctly. This year it’s on a Saturday and as always in Dumbo under, besides and around the Bridge. Mostly a great opportunity to wear fashion forward, creative outfits and to see and be seen.
Ankara Bazaar (17th of September)
This event happens for the first time – location hasn’t been announced yet but it will be in Manhattan. It’s supposed to become a big shopping event for anything around ankara fashion & accessories. I will be selling there, so stop by!
Atlantic Antic ( 25th of September)
This is a classic and a must attend event. Atlantic Antic is the largest street fair in Brooklyn and the last one before the begin of Fall. Put on your walking shoes and explore all the fashion & food vendors that will set up shop on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn.
Come out, enjoy yourself and comment below if there is any other event that I might have missed!
Gorgeous pictures, sounds like a lot of fun
