The Spring-Summer collection 2016 by Senegalese brand Selly Raby Kane is a homage to “the old Dakar its Romanticism, its effortless style its economical optimism and the mythical elegance of the Senegalese woman.” It is a mix of different prints, flower prints and embroidery. The collection is titled “A Day with Miss N’Diaye” and is narrating the story of a girl, that becomes a pilgrim in her grandmother’s house. Is it just me, but I don’t quite get that story when looking at the images. Maybe a pilgrim in her closet as some of the designs have a vintage twist to them. My favorite look has to be the pants and top with the blue & white plaids. It’s just a super cool and chic look.
The brand was created in 2008 by Senegalese designer Selly Raby. The designs are a mixture of urban, Afro and pop influences partnered with traditional and contemporary fabrics.
